As our 2011 champaign takes shape, we’re counting on your support to realize our exciting vision.

In 2006 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa made a very important decision to double the number of children we mentor within five years. We summarize it in the slogan: 2,011 by 2011. As the number of children in our programs grow each year, so does our need for funds to support those matches.
How Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa programs are funded.
Even though mentoring benefits so many people in a variety of ways, the reality is, dollars are not built into these programs. In order to make mentoring accessible to everyone, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa doesn’t charge program fees nor do we have any profit centers. We rely upon the generosity of the communities we serve and people like you. The cost of recruiting, initiating and sustaining one mentoring match for one year is $1,000 for Community Based Mentoring and $600 for School Based Mentoring. By giving to Big Brothers Big Sisters, foundations and corporations benefit our community’s most important asset -- our children!
